1972 C. M. Fleeson
Classical
With the international market for
classical guitars so heavily dominated by Spanish makers, it’s a
pleasure to be able to offer an instrument from one of the UK’s
few revered makers. Martin Fleeson was best known for his
association with John Williams, with Williams using Fleeson guitars
throughout the tail end of the 70s. This Spruce and Rosewood example
is far earlier and relatively plain in appearance, but still a
phenomenal sounding guitar – one of the nicest classics we’ve
heard in a long time.
Generally excellent condition, the only exception being an open seam
split to the table running from bridge to end block. Our luthier has
inlayed a new piece of spruce into the split and French polished
over to make it as discreet as possible.

Juan Perez model 670 second hand
An elegantly made flamenco guitar with lovely looking figured
Cypress back and sides. All solid woods and a rich, sonorous tone;
fairly dark for a flamenco but with a good balance of sweetness and
volume. The condition is so immaculate a less honourable dealer than
our good selves might have passed it off as new, and a fibreglass
flight case is included.

 Romantic
classical guitar c1890s
Whilst the modern classical has its roots in the Spanish designs of
Torres and co in the mid 19th Century, the remainder of
Europe preferred their guitars in this smaller, sweeter format, of
which this is a lovely example. The label has long since perished
but the bold, curvy outline of the bouts and bridge is typical of
German and Austrian instruments. We’ve had to undo the damage
inflicted by a previous owner by putting steel strings on it,
re-straightening the neck and repairing a couple of top cracks, but
it now plays beautifully with a strong, sweet tone.
